NEW WEBSITE!
Sorry for not updating in a while! Between lugging home three large suitcases packed full of clothes and gear, unpacking three large suitcases packed full of clothes and gear, settling in back home, catching up with old friends, and starting my internship at Sunset Magazine, I haven't had much of a chance to pick up my camera.
BUT, I have finally bought a host and registered a domain with the wonderful help of my friend Tom, so please check out my new site here: http://www.eschow.com/
I would love to hear your comments and suggestions! It's still a work in progress.

Fireworks, Dine & Cheese
It was like any Saturday night, but we had big plans. The weather was chilly, biting enough that we needed a coat but warm enough that it was only a light jacket. We rode our way into downtown Chicago, stopped at Grand and walked the short two blocks to Buca di Beppo, reliving a previous dining experience I unfortunately could not take part in. Dressed in a simple dress, I shared large plates of food with my friends, donning button-down shirts and and skirts.
We looked forward to a night of laidback bonding, no thoughts about schoolwork or studying. We walked to Steph's apartment and set up the food and drinks we bought: cherries, grapes, strawberries, cheese, crackers and italian soda. We went up to the skydeck and leaned over the balcony, looking at the fireworks at Navy Pier. We pumped some music, ate and danced the night away, topping the sleepover off with Step Up.
It was a good night.

What do you have to do?
Dan, Stephen, Peter and I hopped on the chance to get dollar crepes, taking a well-deserved break from our studying and paper-writing. On our way there, we came across the words, "What do you have to do?" on the ground. Beneath these words, there were a list of numbers, with number one filled out as "food!" I picked up the small piece of blue chalk and began writing. The four of us filled out the list and walked away.
Dan's number five was the best one on the list. I'm ready to go home.

The 195 and consider this...
I just wanted post on a new site that came to fruition from our wonderful Medill students' multitude of ideas. Check out: the195.com. There are some great writers who are going to wonderful places.
I only hope I will have as many stories to tell after my four years here at Northwestern.
--------------------------------------------------------
My fellow dormmate, Shuling, made a documentary for her fall quarter class called Behind the Drive, and I almost choked up watching it on Wednesday. Her film on ambition and what makes people tick touched on one of the big, overwhelming thoughts I have been struggling with all year. I wrote about my doubts a few months ago, but this is so much larger than journalism.
Watching these ambitious people live their lives and listening to these psychologists talk about promotion focus and preventious focus sparked some inspiration but also made me question my capabilities. Do I really have a larger purpose? Or why exactly do I do what I do?
The conclusion Shuling drew made perfect sense to me. After all, happiness seems key in any situation. If we aren't enjoying ourselves, what's the point, right?
All of this sounds vague, but I highly encourage you guys to watch it or simply talk to her because she is such a talented woman who is off to do great things (like many Northwestern students are).
So consider this:
What makes you get out of bed in the morning? What keeps you from going to sleep at night?
