Run, run, run
It was such a thrill to take part in this event, even if it was just as a mere press member whose camera could barely do her justice. I kneeled next to official Chicago Marathon photographers and NBC videographers with gear that I would not be able to fit into my complimentary Chicago Marathon backpack that came with the press kit.
As a person who hates running, I could never imagine running an entire marathon. These participants have balls and such a drive that put me in awe. Check out the guy with the prosthetic legs. He was clocking in at about 2 hours and 30 minutes when he passed by the Addison/Broadway intersection near Wrigley Field. Even at the 22-mile mark in Chinatown (first time there!), most runners were still going strong and I could just imagine myself collapsed on the ground somewhere at the 2-mile mark.
Plus, unlike the previous years, the temperature was cold. Kudos to all of you who ran or wheeled! It was a pleasure covering the event.
More coverage at North by Northwestern.
